e-gold is an online currency, 100% backed by gold in storage. Payments can be made to another e-gold account in seconds, and can not be reversed unless a court orders e-gold to do it. e-gold's fees are relatively low. There is a storage fee of 1% per year charged as 1/12 of 1% per month, and spend fees of 1% per transaction deducted from the receiver up to a maximum of 50cents US. You can create as many accounts as you want for free and if an account is empty you won't be charged anything.

The above link to the e-gold.com home page may also set a cookie so that any accounts created in 48 hours will have bespin as the referrer- but it doesn't work every time, so if you want bespin to be your referrer, please use the link below. Separately from donating directly, if you use Bespin as your referrer, Bespin gets a small amount of gold dust every time you spend or receive e-gold. Creating accounts using bespin's referrer link is a great way to supplement your donation, or to help out if you can't afford to donate right now.

e-gold Ltd does not sell e-metals for other currencies, it just stores the metal and makes money from the storage fees and spend fees.
